BACKSTAGE PASS: Check Out Lot18, The Startup That Generated Millions Of Dollars In Just 6 Months

There are a lot of flash sale startups, but Lot18 is quickly rising to the top of the stack.

In just six months, it generated millions in monthly revenue. It has more than 200,000 users and that number is growing by 1,000 users per day.

Lot18's ability to scale quickly attracted investors too; it raised a $10 million Series B round last month.

How are they doing it?

We ducked behind the scenes to see the startup in action.

Lot18 just moved to a larger office on east 32nd street in Manhattan.

Josh Mohrer is our tour guide. He is Lot18's senior director of marketing and business development.

The startup is growing like a weed; conference rooms are already scarce in the new space so Arianna Sharei and Tiffany Luck settle for a meeting on the entranceway couch.

Check Out Flipboard's Minimalist, "Inside Of An iPod" Office -- And The Huge New One They're Planning To Move Into (PHOTO TOUR)

Flipboard, the iPad magazine app, has become very popular, thanks in large part to its clean, minimalist design.

Flipboard's corporate headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif., share a similar spirit. With bright white walls and desks and lots of natural light, it's sort of like "the inside of an iPod."

But Flipboard is already outgrowing its space, and plans to expand into a much larger office in downtown Palo Alto later this year.

We recently visited both buildings, and, of course, brought our camera.

Flipboard HQ -- a former art gallery -- is a few blocks down a tree-lined street from downtown Palo Alto.

McCue co-founded Flipboard last year. He's best known for founding Tellme Networks and selling it to Microsoft. Long ago, he worked at Netscape.

Booze, BBQ Grills, And Breaking Things: Check Out Facebook's "Swinging" London HQ

We were in London last month and thought we would check into Facebook's London offices, in a swanky area near Carnaby Street.

The company announced it was opening an office in 2007 (read Facebook's blog post about it here). The office opened in January 2008.

While Europe's regional Facebook HQ is in Dublin, they have a number of other offices in important European cities, of which London's is the largest.

The office currently has over 70 members of staff. Teams work on sales, marketing, platforms, platform engineering and policy/communications.

The offices are located just off Carnaby Street..

(Note the beautiful British summer time)

...the center of the swinging sixties and still a very fashionable area.

Once inside the building we're greeted at reception by Fiona, who didn't enjoy our unexpected intrusion.
