Check Out Flipboard's Minimalist, "Inside Of An iPod" Office -- And The Huge New One They're Planning To Move Into (PHOTO TOUR)

Flipboard office tourFlipboard, the iPad magazine app, has become very popular, thanks in large part to its clean, minimalist design.

Flipboard's corporate headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif., share a similar spirit. With bright white walls and desks and lots of natural light, it's sort of like "the inside of an iPod."

But Flipboard is already outgrowing its space, and plans to expand into a much larger office in downtown Palo Alto later this year.

We recently visited both buildings, and, of course, brought our camera.

Flipboard HQ -- a former art gallery -- is a few blocks down a tree-lined street from downtown Palo Alto.

There's Flipboard CEO Mike McCue (center) in a design meeting with Mia Quagliarello (content curation), Marcos Weskamp (design), and Gloria Lin (product)

McCue co-founded Flipboard last year. He's best known for founding Tellme Networks and selling it to Microsoft. Long ago, he worked at Netscape.

You Can Now Turn Your Own Computer Into A Pogoplug

Pogoplug is today releasing new software that basically turns any PC or Mac into a Pogoplug device, no additional hardware required.

The software could be useful to stream pictures, music or movies to another computer or a mobile device (Android, iPhone, iPad, etc.), and since multiple devices can be linked to a single account, you can access files from any of them individually or see all the files across multiple computers in a single screen (called One View).

Access to all your files (to download them remotely or share them with others), and also the streaming of photos to any device, is free with the software. To stream music or movies, however, you’l need a premium upgrade ($29.00 fee). One purchase of a Pogoplug Premium software license can be installed on all computers tied to a single account.

In essence, Pogoplug’s new software can turn your personal computer into a personal cloud storage device, with no additional hardware required. This is, needless to say, a very crowded space to operate in what with Dropbox, iCloud, Box.net, Amazon Cloud Drive and the plethora of alternative cloud storage services out there.

The company behind Pogoplug, Cloud Engines, was founded in 2007 and currently has 50 employees. The company has raised a total of $25 million in funding to date, from investors like Foundry Group, Softbank Capital and Morgan Stanley.

The company is headquartered in San Francisco, with a satellite office in Tel Aviv.

Mark Cuban Submits The Mavericks Championship Into Evidence In A Lawsuit

Mark Cuban urinal trophy

A little-known subplot of the Dallas Mavericks rise to the top is that Ross Perot Jr. – a minority partner in the club –  is suing team owner Mark Cuban.

Perot sold the team to Cuban in 2000 (while keeping a 5% stake), but recently claimed that current ownership has mismanaged the franchise and failed to maximize profits for the shareholders (i.e., Ross Perot Jr.)

Perot called Cuban "careless and reckless" and asked a judge to seize the team from him and place it in receivership.

Well, earlier today, Cuban's lawyers submitted a brief asking for a summary judgment in his favor. We have to admit, the evidence is pretty persuasive.

Check it out. (Legal documents via the Dallas Observer via Deadspin/TMZ)

THE EVIDENCE

Accordingly, there can be no genuine question that ... claims of mismanagement lack merit and should be disposed of...
